Education Grant Program Description

Two types of Educational Grants are available from the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (NSCMLT) to support and promote professional development for NSCMLT members. The Collaborative Grant is available to member organizations in Nova Scotia up to $1,000.  The Leadership Grant is available to individuals in pursuit of Leadership education within the industry up to $500.  The Professional Development (PD) Committee designates a portion of the annual budget that is approved by the NSCMLT Board for these educational grants.

Program Guidelines

  • Applications will be considered for activities that will be complete in the calendar year that funding is being requested.

  • The amount of funds available may change annually with each approved budget.

  • The deadline for application submissions will be announced annually in the News and Views and will be aligned with the Calendar year.

  • Eligibility and awards will be pre- determined by criteria determined by the NSCMLT PD Committee at scheduled meetings.

  • An application form completed in full shall accompany the request

  • Requests shall be submitted before the designated application deadline.

  • Recipients of PD grants agree to complete an evaluation of the event to determine if objectives were met.

  • Recipients of PD grants agree to submit an article in the News and Views that summarizes their event or learning.

  • Applicants may only be considered for one grant per year

  • Those that have received a grant within the past 3 years will only be considered if all the grant funds are not awarded to other applicants.

  • The number of grants awarded and amount of money awarded depends on the available funds and the number of eligible applicants for that year.

  • All decisions are final.  If an application is rejected it will not be reconsidered for future disbursements in the same calendar year.
