Membership Registration Fees and Pro-Rating
It is the policy of the NSCMLT that there is no pro-rating of Registration Fees.
This policy applies to all MLTs and at all times of the year. While some NS regulatory bodies do offer pro-rating, it was found on consultation with these bodies that the membership volume was considerably higher (e.g. Registered Nurses 10 times the number of membership) and that office staffing was higher, which allowed for more flexibility in handling pro-rating issues. A number of MLT regulatory bodies were consulted (e.g. Alberta and New Brunswick) and it was indicated for the same reasons as the NSCMLT that pro-rating was not presently offered.
Being licensed and in good standing in another regulated province does ensure labour mobility between provinces; however, it does not degate the MLT from applying in the prescribed manner to join the new MLT regulatory body.
