Introduction

Introduction

  • This Code of Ethics establishes safe and ethical standards for all registrants of the Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences (NSRMLS), encompassing students and temporary practitioners. It mandates ethical standards for registered and licensed medical laboratory professionals. Compliance is a prerequisite for registration, licensure, and ongoing practice. This Code of Ethics is designed to safeguard the public, guide professional conduct, uphold good character, and preserve public trust in medical laboratory services. It facilitates the assessment of conduct, competence, and performance. Adherence is mandatory for all registrants of the Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and breaches may trigger complaint resolution processes, or, where appropriate, disciplinary action. The values embedded within the code of ethics serve as a guiding principle for self-reflection and decision-making for registrants navigating ethical dilemmas across all their professional roles. It governs their conduct irrespective of their practice settings.
