MLA/MLT or CLXT Student Employment

A medical laboratory assistant (MLA), medical laboratory technologist (MLT) or combined laboraotry and xray technologist (CLXT) may only work in Nova Scotia if they are licensed with NSCMLT.

To apply for licensure as a student with NSCMLT, an individual must be enrolled in an accredited program or be awaiting the results of a MLA or MLT prior learning assessment or their entry to practice exam. Additionally, the applicant must work under direct supervision.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Proof of enrolment in an accredited MLA/MLT program (letter from your program on official letter head or transcript)

2. A signed acknowledgement of supervision form

3. Professional Liability Insurance (2 million)

4. NS Government photo identification (driver's license, passport)

5. Criminal Records check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)

6. Copy of your employer intent to hire letter  (letter of offer)

7. Proof of English Language Proficiency
